If you develop lymphedema, make sure you see a lymphedema specialist. He or she will review your medical history and identify a cause for your lymphedema.  They will then make recommendations to help reduce your lymphedema.

  1. Compression garments.  Compression garments are use prophylactically with lymphedema that has recently started to develop.  They require a lymphedema specialist to fit  them on the patient.  If they are worn at a later date when the body has changed, then new compression garments must be chosen.
  2. Instruction on performing self-manual lymph drainage
  3. Education on skin and nail care
  4. Kinesiology Therapeutic elastic bandages

Ask your lymphedema specialist!
