HDR Interstitial Brachytherapy

HDR brachtherapy enables escalation of radiation dose while minimizing damage to adjacent organs.

HDR Brachtherapy

HDR Brachytherapy is an extremely precise method for radiation therapy that’s effective in eliminating cancers of the skin, cervix, prostate, breast, and many other areas. Brachytherapy works by implanting an intense source of radiation directly into the tumor site, delivering high doses of radiation with remarkable precision. HDR treatment is pain-free, delivered through a computer-controlled machine in just two to ten convenient treatments. To place the radiation applicators, we simply use a wire or cable inserted into a catheter that goes into the tumor site. We can remove the catheter between treatments, helping to minimize side effects and impact on your life, and we can vary the positioning of the wire to target cancer of any shape and location.

  • Interstitial Brachytherapy: Commonly used for prostate cancer, this method delivers radiation directly into the tissue.
  • Intracavitary Brachytherapy: Often used for breast, cervical, and vaginal cancers, this method delivers radiation from the cavity left behind by a recently removed tumor.
  • Episcleral Brachytherapy: This method attaches a radiation source to the eye to treat melanoma inside the eye.

Pinpoint Accuracy

Pin point accuracy and precision to deliver radiation to the tumor while sparing adjacent normal tissue.
